Nestled in the gentle hills of Surrey on the Greater London border, this original 1920s detached family home undertook a loving and respectful renovation focused on reviving the elegance and charm of its golden era while seamlessly integrating modern-day practicality for a contemporary young family. With a complete remodel of the ground floor guided by our meticulous design process, our remit covered both functional and aesthetic changes to curate an ideal landscape for our busy clients as they look towards their exciting future here. Following our recommendation, we assembled the full professional team, appointing trusted architects, structural engineers, and main contractors to ensure precise realisation of our design vision. Throughout the planning permission process, our client-focused approach remained central, ensuring that every decision reflected the unique needs of the family, resulting in a home that is as functional as it is beautiful.
Through internal reconfiguration, we introduced aspirational open plan living, flooding the home with natural light to include a show-stopping kitchen, an airy dining space, and a cosy snug overlooking the garden. A practical homework and family area was created for the children, while a sophisticated library and bar offered the adults a tranquil retreat within the home, all while allowing for easy supervision of the little ones. With scrupulous attention to detail, every surface from the front entrance to the garden rooms were thoughtfully considered and beautifully executed; We even managed to introduce an enviably spacious utility, pantry and chef’s kitchen, designed to discreetly manage the daily demands of family life while providing convenient access to the heart of the home.

Through a holistic approach that considered the home’s countryside setting, its architectural heritage, and the stunning surrounding gardens, we sought to breathe life into each space, crafting bold interior designs that paid homage to the property’s history and its leafy location.
Through our client-orientated design process we aimed to strike that elusive balance between the glamour of a period heritage and contemporary functionality fit for family life. Through an immersive design journey focused on reviving the beauty and charm of the home’s golden era, we wove pattern, colour, and materiality throughout the home to create a cohesive and subtle undertone that permeated the ground floor, all while ensuring every practical need was met.
Exemplifying the marriage of past and present, a standout feature was the custom designed library and bar created by our trusted local bespoke joiners. With contemporary woodwork design, this piece showcased the Art Deco movement via in-laid wallpaper. Accented by statement gold details and geometric patterning, the result epitomised the sophisticated allure of the 1920s, perfectly appropriated as a quiet retreat for the parents of the home.
