As interior designers, we’re always on the look out for new and interesting products and are often bombarded by suppliers with their latest designs and innovations. We came across Riviere at Decorex four years ago but had already heard of them via a close contact.
We were immediately impressed with their custom handmade rugs; the stunning designs available, the quality and how they are made. Riviere makes the rugs to order using finest grade Tibetan wool and pure Chinese silk, all of which are handcrafted in their workshop in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal.
The process starts with detailed graph, yarn dying, hand carding, spinning, setting of the little loom, hand knotting process, trimming, washing, drying and hand binding the edges.
The end result is a beautifully crafted artisan rug which creates a real statement.
When it comes to shaping interior spaces, two terms often come up: interior design and interior architecture. We cover the key differences between both practices and why understanding this difference matters.
