Pfeiffer Design has recently completed the interior design of a beautiful, luxurious bedroom suite within an open eves roof space. The double height bedroom now incorporates antique details, sumptuous fabrics, engineered oak floor and bespoke furniture. Susie commented “We wanted the architecture of the building to be uninterrupted by the new additions, thus the large headboard, the shower and basin only have a light touch to the fabric of the flint barn.” This makes the layout and materials fundamental to the design function and form is successful.
Proposal of the open plan bedroom and bathroom was designed to maximize space and light, merging the thresholds of the space. Details of the interior include 2.5 meter French, antique doors. Retaining their original paintwork inspired the soft green colour pallet of the room. Due to their size a sliding pocket was designed as the most effective means of opening. Chevron Parquet, Sliver Grey engineered floor was chosen as it works well with the architecture and European inspiration. The large scale marble bathroom tiles are cut from one piece and joined in such a manner to create a sense of movement and continuity across the back wall.
Although the configuration of the space is not conventional the designers have achieve a successful relaxed, flowing space to enhance the architecture and make the most of the stunning view from the bed.
