As we step into 2025, interiors are embracing a renewed focus on wellness, comfort, and creativity in light of what’s been an eventful and, at times, turbulent year. The trends this year will blend timeless elegance with thoughtful functionality, offering a retreat from the fast-paced world outside. We asked our designers what they predict to see more of in 2025, here’s what they had to say:
We have already seen an increased interest in spaces that prioritise wellness this year, and in 2025 expect to see this rise further. Homes are becoming havens of rejuvenation away from the stresses of outside life, with plush sofas, layered textiles, and intimate lighting being used to create spaces like reading nooks and cosy corners to relax and unwind. Design for mental and physical well-being is continually on the rise and definitely won’t be slowing down in 2025.
It’s time to say goodbye to stark whites and neutral greys, this year colour trends are shifting towards deep earth tones such as sienna, rich browns, burgundy, navy and saturated greens; combined with jewel toned accents, these colours offer a connection to nature and have a grounding presence, adding richness and depth to interiors. Good ways to inject these colours into your home is with your soft furnishings, artwork or furniture.
A return to nostalgic elements will be on the rise as we turn our heads back to classic design. Natural elements such as ceramics, clay and terracotta are re-circulating due to their lovely textured material and minimal impact on the environment. These tactile materials combined with rich, dark woods bring warmth and authenticity to interiors and ground spaces in the beauty of the natural world. 2025 is the year we say goodbye to light woods and Scandi style interiors and welcome back rawness and rusticity.
Thoughtful furniture designs are making a triumphant return in the New year; in keeping with the sway towards more classic design, furniture will be used to make a statement and increasingly be used as art to decorate a space through craftsmanship and sculptural forms. There will be more focus on form than function with our furniture in 2025 and we’ll be pairing classic silhouettes with some bold upholstery to compliment it!
As technology has become ever-present in our day to day lives, many homeowners are reclaiming formal living rooms as spaces for conversation, reading, and relaxation without the distraction of screens. We have seen an increase in clients wanting to disguise technology in their homes by concealing their TVs behind joinery or artwork, and this return to tradition emphasizes the rejection of technology focussed design and highlights the joy of connecting with loved ones in beautifully designed spaces that promote meaningful interaction.
Bold patterns are predicted to be everywhere in 2025. Pattern drenching (a style we love at Pfeiffer Design!) is where florals and geometric prints are layered across sofas, cushions, wallpaper, and window treatments, creating a dynamic and cohesive look. From richly patterned upholstery to floral wallpapers that evoke vintage charm, this trend is a celebration of maximalism and self-expression which is something interior design in 2025 will celebrate.
In line with the rise of pattern drenching, soft furnishings are too becoming statement pieces. Sumptuous throws, textured rugs, and accent cushions in luxurious fabrics are layering spaces with comfort and beauty. These elements allow for easy seasonal updates and add warmth and personality to any room. As we enter an era of bold design, these items are perfect ways to inject personality into your home without making permanent changes.
